The Crusades were not a peaceful affair.
As an added bonus, I could point out that near where I live, there is a lake called ‘Katuma’, approximately translated into ‘Lake Repentance’. The Lake is thus named, according to legend, that when the armed Swedes marched to the Häme (Tavast) area, the locals thought it best to convert. However, the second they were gone, the locals rushed to the lake to wash away the baptism and recant back to their lovely pagan ways. Clever, huh?
The story is quoted on the Finnish version of Wikipedia (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katuma) but as usual, GoogleTranslate will absolutely maul the translation. 😀
A good representation of the manner of teaching the love of God from the Catholics hahaha
I think you’ve just captured the answer petrecfly
